People ask me how faith fits into the mortgage business. Numbers, deadlines, underwriters — it doesn't exactly scream "Sunday morning."
But for me, it's simple: faith isn't something I fit into my business. My business fits inside my faith.
Here's what that actually looks like, day to day.
1. Every client is a neighbor, not a number.
I genuinely believe every family that sits across from me was put in my path for a reason. That changes the conversation. I'm not chasing a closing — I'm serving someone's future. When a deal doesn't work out, I'm honest about it, even when it costs me. Trust is worth more than a commission.
2. I start with gratitude, not pressure.
This industry rewards urgency. Lock the rate, push the paperwork, close the loan. I work hard, but I refuse to let the pace steal the purpose. I start my day thankful — for the families I get to help, for the work itself. A grateful loan officer gives better advice than a stressed one.
3. Integrity when nobody's watching.
Faith keeps you honest in the quiet moments — the disclosure you could gloss over, the fee you could skip mentioning, the pre-approval you could stretch. I do it right because it's right, not because someone's checking. My reputation is built one honest conversation at a time.
4. I pray about the hard ones.
Not every file is clean. Sometimes a family is one document away from losing the home they've been dreaming about. I've prayed over more loan files than I can count. Some close. Some don't. But I never walk through them alone, and my clients feel that steadiness even when the process gets rocky.
5. Success is measured in families, not volume.
Numbers matter — I run a business. But at the end of the year, I don't want to count units. I want to count families who are sitting at their own kitchen tables because we did the work together. That's the scoreboard that matters to me.
Here's the truth: centering your business around faith doesn't mean quoting scripture in every meeting. It means the way you treat people carries something deeper.
Honor God. Serve families. Build strong relationships. Lead.
That's the whole playbook.
What's one way your faith — or your values — shapes how you do business? I'd love to hear it in the comments.
