I've sold a lot of homes in Sevier County, Tennessee, but this one was different. This was my sister-in-law's home, a place where I'd spent so many Christmases and Thanksgivings with family. After her passing, the home went to her two children, and I was the one who helped them sell it. I can still see those kids playing in the yard, still hear the laughter around the Thanksgiving table. And when I walked away for the last time, I swear I could still hear that old house laughing. This wasn't an easy sale. We had probate to work through, a difficult mortgage payoff to obtain, and several obstacles that needed attention. But we worked through every one of them and got the home sold.
