Finding the right home is exciting, but being financially prepared is what allows you to make your move with confidence.

Before submitting an offer, reconnect with your mortgage team. Your pre-approval may need to be updated, especially if your income, credit, employment, debts or available funds have changed. Your mortgage professional can also review the specific property and provide an updated payment estimate based on the home’s price, taxes and insurance.

Preparation may be especially valuable in today’s market. When a property has been listed for a longer period, buyers may have opportunities to discuss seller-paid closing costs, repairs or other terms with their real estate agent. These possibilities vary by property and market, but they are worth exploring.

Even after your offer is accepted, continue protecting your financial position. Avoid opening credit cards, financing large purchases, changing jobs or moving money between accounts without first speaking with your mortgage team.

The market does not decide when you are ready you do. Understanding your options, setting a comfortable budget, completing your pre-approval and staying in communication with your team can help turn homeownership goals into a clear plan.

At Maverick Lending Solutions, we are here to answer your questions and help you move forward with confidence.
