Instant Curb Appeal: The Power of Fresh Pine Straw

You don't need an expensive landscape redesign to win buyers at the curb. A fresh layer of pine straw and crisp, re-cut lawn edges — a single weekend and a few hundred dollars in materials — instant curb appeal!

Why pine straw and edging work

First impressions set a buyer's price ceiling before they step inside — buyers form their opinion about a home before they reach the front door. A ragged yard reads as deferred maintenance, and that skepticism follows buyers through the whole tour. Fresh pine straw creates instant contrast: it frames the house, defines the beds, and signals a home that's been cared for. Edging between beds and grass doesn't need to be fancy — a simple spade edge keeps mulch in place and grass from creeping into beds (NashvilleSMLS).

    The weekend plan

    1. Edge everything. Cut a clean line along walkways, driveways, and every bed. A sharp edge is the cheapest way to make a yard look intentional.

    2. Re-mulch beds. Spread a thick layer of pine straw into all visible beds for a quick, inexpensive way to refresh your curb appeal.

    3. Trim and weed. Cut back shrubs crowding the entry, pull visible weeds, and remove dead plants entirely.

As a former landscape designer, I'm happy to assist with easy landscape ideas to help your home look its best and make a great first impression with buyers. Give me a call anytime Jeff Naylor, Realtor Re/Max 850-567-2447
