A reader recently asked me, "Will Cupp, you seem to know a lot about real estate in the Great Smoky Mountains. But I've got a question."
Will Cupp? That's me! LOL.
After more than 30 years selling real estate in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and throughout Sevier County, I figured I was prepared for just about anything.
Home values? Sure. Cabins? Absolutely. Investment properties? Fire away.
Nope.
"Will, where's the best sandwich shop in Sevier County?"
Oh, my dear Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Names changed to protect the innocent, of course. Realtor code of ethics, you understand. LOL.
I can give you that information, but it's top secret.
Well, it was until I decided to write this article.
Pigeon Forge Deli!
My goodness, people. If you haven't been there, we need to have a serious conversation about the decisions you've been making in life.
Homemade bread. Homemade pretzels. Dips that ought to require a permit. And deli meats so good I'm not entirely convinced they order them from a supplier.
I believe they pray to the restaurant gods at night, and by morning, the finest deli meats known to mankind have appeared in the cooler.
Now listen, don't show up expecting the Taj Mahal. Don't put on a suit and tie. This is a little family-run, hole-in-the-wall kind of place.
And that's exactly what makes it wonderful.
No grand entrance. No fancy chandeliers. Just people who know how to make food so good you'll find yourself planning your next visit before you've finished the first.
And those pretzels!
True story. I had one little bite of pretzel left. Went to scratch my head, and my tongue nearly beat my brains out trying to get to that last bite.
Folks, that's not normal behavior.
That's a GOOD pretzel!
You know, 30 years in real estate has taught me something about the Smoky Mountains. Sometimes the best things aren't the ones with the biggest signs, the fanciest buildings, or the most expensive advertising.
Sometimes they're the little places you almost drive past.
And sometimes the people who make this community special are the ones quietly getting up every morning, baking bread, serving customers, and taking pride in doing something well.
That's the kind of place I love.
So whether you're visiting Pigeon Forge, vacationing in Gatlinburg, or looking for a home here in Sevier County, do yourself a favor. Find Pigeon Forge Deli.
And if you'll excuse me, writing this has made me hungry.
I'm headed that way now.
Just one piece of advice. Don't leave that last bite of pretzel sitting on the table. Your tongue might hurt somebody trying to get to it. LOL.

These are my personal favorites. No restaurant paid me to write this.
