My first job was in 1979 as clubhouse boy for the Lodi Dodgers (Class A affiliate of the LA Dodgers). Dad drove the team bus, and I learned real service—washing uniforms, sweeping floors, polishing cleats, and doing whatever needed doing when nobody was watching. Mostly thankless, entirely formative: I learned to serve. I still serve—now as a loan officer. I help borrowers buy homes, lower mortgage payments, or pull cash when they need it. It pays better than washing baseball uniforms, but the
