My first job was in 1979 as clubhouse boy for the Lodi Dodgers (Class A affiliate of the LA Dodgers). Dad drove the team bus, and I learned real service—washing uniforms, sweeping floors, polishing cleats, and doing whatever needed doing when nobody was watching.
